Online Chess

It doesn't look like our chess club is going to be able to restart over the board chess until the spring at the earliest.

In order to give our members access to chess, we are setting up Mold Chess Club on chess.com. chess.com is free to join, and you can search for Mold Chess Club and ask to join, or you can let me know and we will get an invitation emailed to you. Many thanks to Jon Mayberry for setting this up.

If there is enough interest, we will try to run some competitions. There will be a separate competition for juniors.

We are new to this, so there may be some teething troubles. nevertheless, it would be good to have some chess among us. Any problems, please get in touch.

In the meantime, please keep safe.

Stephen Dunning

Wirral League suspended

All matches to be suspended until the end of April
first and foremost, greatest consideration needs to be given to the health and safety of the players and their loved ones, while we are undergoing the Corona pandemic. the government has today announced a new series of measures to create a safer environment. part of these measures is guidance to the population that they should avoid unnecessary contact and attendance at venues where large numbers may gather.

After some discussion among executive members, we have decided that the Wirral Chess League suspend all matches for one month when the situation shall be reviewed.

Leon Wolszczak, Controller.

Corona Virus

All Chester & District league matches are suspended
Following consultation with league officers and others, the decision has been taken to SUSPEND ALL CHESTER & DISTRICT LEAGUE MATCHES FROM TODAY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

We are conscious that many teams have players in the 'at risk' category, and that some clubs already have players not prepared to play, so it does not seem worth taking risks just for a game of chess

As to whether we will continue the season at a later date, or abandon it all together, that will be considered in due course as we see how things pan out.

Please inform all your captains.

In the meantime, please keep safe and well!

Stephen Dunning
President
Chester & District Chess League.
